The Wharfedale Denton 1S carries forward a name first introduced in 1967, but this is not a simple vintage reissue. Instead, the Denton 1S is a compact, modern loudspeaker built around a coaxial point-source driver, with a 1" silk-dome tweeter mounted concentrically within a 6.5" black polypropylene mid/bass cone.

That coaxial layout lets the tweeter and mid/bass driver radiate from a single acoustic center, helping the Denton 1S deliver stable imaging, good timing, and a consistent tonal balance across a broad listening area. It also allows for a clean front baffle and a compact cabinet that can work on stands, on shelves, or wall-mounted using the rear 3/8" mounting point.

The Denton 1S is tuned for real-world placement, with a rear-panel Brilliance EQ switch for subtle tonal adjustment when the speaker is used closer to a wall. The bass-reflex enclosure gives the Denton 1S useful low-frequency reach for its size, with 45 Hz bass extension and a 50 Hz–20 kHz frequency response.

The cabinet blends Wharfedale’s heritage look with a more contemporary form, using smooth curves, a painted matte finish, cloth grille, and retro badging. Available in black, white, or blue, the Denton 1S is designed to look at home in modern spaces while keeping a clear link to Wharfedale’s classic British hi-fi identity.
