As one of the most meticulously crafted multi-source players ever conceived by T+A., the MP 2500 R G3 offers SACD playback, an array of external SP-DIF devices, a high-performance tuner featuring FM/FM-HD, DAB+, and Internet radio, alongside the latest streaming services and connect functionalities such as Apple AirPlay 2. As with everything T+A the MP 2500 R G3 matches prowess with understated elegance.

Path Separation Technology

T+A understands that each format deserves a processing path tailored precisely to its unique characteristics. To that end, it uses dedicated converters. PCM signals up to 384 kSps are rendered through a quadruple convertor with four 32-bit chips, while DSD files up to DSD 512 have their own signal path via the T+A True 1-Bit Converter. T+A DACs are known for being especially good with DSD.

The separation continues into the dual-mono analog section that is galvanically isolated from the digital section by means of jitter-free transformers. This arrangement ensures that external source devices cannot possibly deliver interference, and even extremely noisy computer interference is rendered innocuous. The output stage offers an extremely wide bandwidth of 100 kHz. The results are worth the effort: totally natural, uncolored sound, free of all the limitations usually associated with digital sources. 

Jitter Reduction

Current digital consumers know all about the deleterious effects of jitter, and how important clocking is to digital playback. This is why T+A has developed a unique two-stage process for clock generation: in the first stage the received data are processed and decoded. In this stage a basic clock is extracted from the received data stream, which undergoes an initial cleaning process in a PLL circuit aimed at removing coarse jitter generated by the source device and the transfer.

This clock is then analysed extremely intensively by the micro-processor. If it fulfils certain minimum criteria in respect of frequency and stability, the D/A converters are switched to an internally generated, extremely precise Master Clock with vanishingly low phase noise. This clock is completely isolated from the source device, and therefore carries no trace of the jitter interference from the source and the transfer link.

The local Master Clock is generated by two separate quartz oscillators which are adjusted to extremely precise tolerances. This extreme sophistication ensures that the clock is absolutely precise for all frequencies from 44.1 kHz upwards.

Solid Transport

Silver disc owners can rest assured that the SACD/CD transport in the MP 2500 R G3 is meticulously engineered and encapsulated, shielding it from any external interference that might disrupt its optical precision. Heavy-duty mounting plates, dual pushrods, and whisper-quiet motors exemplify the solidity and craftsmanship that define the entire R-series.
