Sonus faber Stradivari G2 Floorstanding Loudspeaker

3.5-way floorstander with 1.1” tweeter, 5.9” midrange, dual 10.2” woofers, and 92 dB sensitivity

Sonus faber’s Homage Collection combines the company’s most recognizable design language with technologies developed to improve driver control, resonance management, and spatial coherence. Made in Vicenza, Italy, the collection draws on the traditions of Italian musical-instrument making while incorporating modern technologies including Intono midrange loading, Phase Coherent crossover design, and advanced low-frequency systems.

Stradivari G2 is the second generation of the loudspeaker Sonus faber created in honor of Antonio Stradivari. Introduced 20 years after the original, its unusually broad front baffle is designed to increase the scale and width of the soundstage. The 3.5-way system combines a 1.1” DAD Arrow Point tweeter, 5.9” midrange, and two 10.2” woofers, with adjustable low-frequency response to help adapt its substantial bass output to different rooms.

Features

Intono Midrange Technology

Stradivari G2 uses Sonus faber’s Intono system to manage pressure within the sealed midrange enclosure. A calibrated duct channels and dissipates energy created by movement of the driver, reducing resonances within the chamber and allowing the crossover network to perform its filtering with fewer corrective components.

Clepsydra Reflex System

The woofer enclosure uses Sonus faber’s Clepsydra reflex system, named for its hourglass-shaped geometry. The design provides the required acoustic loading with a relatively compact duct, while its down-firing orientation makes placement less dependent on the distance between the loudspeaker and surrounding walls.

Low Frequency Adjuster

Sonus faber’s Low Frequency Adjuster allows the bass response to be tailored to the listening room. A rear-panel four-pin connection uses a movable jumper with three positions, each providing a different low-frequency response. Rather than adding resistive components in series with the signal, the system changes the electrical damping of the bass section.

Dual-Gap Woofers

The two 10.2” woofers use a dual-gap motor system designed by Sonus faber. The symmetrical magnetic structure improves consistency of the motor force through the driver’s excursion and reduces distortion compared with a conventional magnetic circuit.

Phase Coherent IFF Crossover

Stradivari G2 combines Sonus faber’s Phase Coherent design philosophy with IFF crossover topology. Carefully selected passive components and crossover points at 160 Hz, 220 Hz, and 2.2 kHz integrate the three driver sections while maintaining coherent timing and low distortion at high listening levels.

Wide-Baffle Cabinet

The distinctive elliptical cabinet retains the broad front soundboard that defines the Stradivari design. Non-parallel walls within the woofer chamber help prevent standing waves above the enclosure’s tuned frequencies. Seven layers of lacquer cover the wood cabinet, complemented by Italian leather and aluminum elements, with Graphite Wood, Red Wood, and Wenge Wood finishes available.
