Sonus faber Sonetto III G2 Floorstanding Loudspeaker
2.5-way floorstander with 1.1” tweeter, 6.5” midwoofer, 6.5” woofer, and 88 dB sensitivity
The second generation of Sonus faber’s Sonetto Collection brings technologies developed for the company’s higher-end loudspeakers into a more accessible range. Made in Italy, Sonetto G2 combines the company’s signature lute-shaped cabinets and natural materials with purpose-designed drivers, new crossover technology, and improved cabinet construction. The collection also incorporates details such as flower-patterned driver surrounds, optimized reflex loading, and concrete bases to improve resonance control and mechanical stability.
Sonetto III is the most compact floorstanding model in the Sonetto G2 Collection. Its 2.5-way design combines a 1.1” DAD silk-dome tweeter with a 6.5” midwoofer and a dedicated 6.5” woofer. The slender cabinet uses separate rear-vented and down-vented loading for the midwoofer and woofer sections, allowing Sonetto III to deliver greater bass extension and scale without requiring the footprint of a larger floorstander.
Features
Flower-Patterned Midwoofer Surround
The 6.5” midwoofer uses Sonus faber’s asymmetric flower-patterned rubber suspension. Inspired by natural forms, the geometry is designed to break up circular modes and improve linearity and dispersion while reducing unwanted interference.
DAD Silk-Dome Tweeter
Sonetto III uses Sonus faber’s 1.1” DAD (Damped Apex Dome) Arrow Point silk-dome tweeter. A copper shorting ring helps control the driver’s behavior, while the extended-frequency design provides response well beyond the audible range.
Organic Driver Baskets
Purpose-designed die-cast baskets use asymmetric, organically inspired shapes rather than repeating structures. The design provides mechanical support while allowing improved airflow around the drivers.
Phase-Coherent Crossover
The Sonetto G2 crossover is designed to closely align the phase rotation of the individual drivers. This approach helps the drivers behave more coherently through their crossover regions for a more precisely defined soundstage.
Lute-Shaped Cabinet
Sonus faber’s familiar lute-shaped cabinet is designed to reduce internal resonances while maintaining the visual language of the company’s larger loudspeakers. Sonetto III combines wood and leather finishes with a concrete base that improves structural stability and helps control vibration.
