Sonus faber Amati Supreme Floorstanding Loudspeaker

4.5-way floorstander with 0.8” super tweeter, 1.5” tweeter, 6.5” midrange, dual 8.7” woofers, and 91 dB sensitivity

Amati Supreme brings technologies developed for Sonus faber’s flagship Suprema system into the familiar proportions of the Amati floorstander. Hand-built in Vicenza, Italy, it combines the company’s lute-shaped cabinet with the same midrange, tweeter, and super tweeter used in Suprema, along with cork acoustic loading, a Phase Coherent crossover, dual-drive woofer motors, and adjustable mid-high and mid-bass response.

The 4.5-way design uses a dedicated 0.8” super tweeter, 1.5” tweeter, 6.5” midrange, and two 8.7” woofers. The upper-frequency drivers and midrange operate within a dedicated cork-damped volume, while the woofers use Sonus faber’s Stealth Ultraflex vented loading. A transparent Y-shaped window in the top of the cabinet reveals part of the mid-high crossover network.

Features

Voice of Sonus faber

Amati Supreme inherits the advanced Voice of Sonus faber driver arrangement developed for Suprema. Its silk-dome tweeter and super tweeter extend high-frequency response, while the 6.5” midrange uses a dual-drive motor system with a neodymium ring magnet. All three drivers are the same types used in the flagship Suprema.

Cork Acoustic Chamber

The tweeter and midrange operate within a dedicated internal volume damped with cork. Developed through computer simulation, the irregularly shaped chamber uses the natural damping properties of cork to control internal resonances around the critical midrange and high-frequency drivers.

Dual 8.7” Woofers

Two 8.7” woofers use Sonus faber’s Dual Drive Motor System for increased control and dynamics. They operate in a vented enclosure using the Stealth Ultraflex system, which manages airflow while minimizing turbulence and port noise.

Phase Coherent Crossover

The crossover evolves Sonus faber’s Phase Coherent design and uses the same component types developed for Suprema. The network is engineered to maintain precise timing and integration between the four driver sections, with crossover points at 230 Hz, 300 Hz, 1.8 kHz, and 5.6 kHz.

Adjustable Mid-High and Mid-Bass Response

Rear-panel controls allow the mid-high and mid-bass balance to be adjusted for the listening room. The system is designed to provide useful acoustic tailoring without changing the fundamental tonal character of the loudspeaker.

Y-Shaped Crossover Window

A transparent Y-shaped window in the top of the cabinet provides a view into the mid-high crossover section, turning part of the internal engineering into a visible design element.

Hand-Built in Vicenza

Amati Supreme is built at Sonus faber’s factory in Vicenza, Italy, with a lute-shaped cabinet combining wood and aluminum. Finish choices include Wengé, Red, and Graphite wood, along with the matte Sabbia Oro and Terra Rossa finishes.
