The Rega Nd9 is a reference moving magnet cartridge developed from decades of Rega cartridge and cantilever research. It uses a boron rod cantilever with a fine-line nude diamond stylus derived from the Aphelion 2 moving-coil cartridge, allowing fast, precise response to fine groove modulations and highly resolved playback. The Nd9 is also available as a factory-fitted option on the Planar 8 turntable.

Each Nd9 is hand-built by Rega and features its most advanced Fine Line nude diamond profile, bonded to the boron cantilever via an ultra-fine connecting tube developed with a high-end watchmaker. The stylus has an extremely small contact radius—approximately 3 µm from above and 30 µm from the front—allowing accurate tracing of low-level groove detail while maintaining stable tracking. A revised generator geometry with symmetrical construction, miniaturised parallel coils, and an optimised pole gap delivers accurate channel balance, low inductance, low impedance, and extended high-frequency response with a stable soundstage.

The assembly is housed in a lightweight, rigid glass-filled PPS body designed to minimise stress on tonearm bearings. Rega’s three-point mounting system ensures secure, repeatable alignment on compatible Rega tonearms, and the Nd9’s 5–6 mV output pairs well with quality moving magnet phonostages. The cartridge ships in fully recyclable packaging.
