Created to mark the 20th anniversary of the brand’s founding, the Phasemation PP-5000 is a commemorative flagship MC cartridge that the company describes as a new milestone and a return to its origins in cartridge design. It is built on a stainless-steel base treated with TiN (titanium nitride) for a golden finish, corrosion resistance, and hardness, topped by a duralumin body treated with DLC (Diamond Like Carbon) to control resonance and deliver a more direct, highly resolved presentation.

At the heart of the PP-5000 is a synthetic diamond cantilever, adopted here for the first time in a Phasemation cartridge to increase propagation speed and expand the amount of musical information. A natural diamond line-contact stylus with a precisely controlled mounting angle, an improved vibration system and damper, and carefully polished permendur yoke in the magnetic circuit are all aimed at better trackability, more uniform magnetic fields, and enhanced spatial expression and sound image localization.

The PP-5000 is a low-impedance moving-coil design with a 4 Ω internal impedance and an output of 0.3 mV or more at 1 kHz, 50 mm/s, intended for use with an appropriate MC step-up transformer or head amplifier. With a compliance of 8.5 µm/mN, a recommended tracking force of 1.7–2.0 g, and a specified playback frequency range of 10 Hz–30 kHz, it is designed for serious analog systems set up.

• Next-Generation Body Structure: A machined stainless-steel base with TiN treatment and a machined duralumin body with DLC treatment combine to control unwanted vibrations, increase rigidity, and deliver a more direct, flagship-grade sound
