Phasemation has continued to research moving-coil cartridges since the brand’s beginning, and the PP-2200 is presented as a new reference design created to succeed the PP-2000. By combining a refined Permendur magnetic circuit and samarium-cobalt magnet with carefully chosen materials, the PP-2200 is engineered to deliver greater resolution of fine musical nuances, a more immersive soundstage, natural expression, and the emotional depth of every performance.

The cartridge uses a machined stainless-steel base and Grade 64 titanium body, both treated with Diamond Like Carbon (DLC) processing. The housing shape has also been redesigned to consolidate its contact points into a single location. This more rigid material and revised structure are designed to reduce unwanted sound smearing.

A solid boron cantilever, line-contact natural diamond stylus, and tapered connection terminals are combined in a low-impedance moving-coil system with a 3.8 Ω internal impedance and 0.3 mV output. The PP-2200 is supplied in a wooden presentation case inspired by traditional Japanese Yosegi craftsmanship and includes a stylus-cleaning brush.
