Phasemation has continued to research moving-coil cartridges since the brand’s beginning, and the PP-2000 is presented as an “ultimate” design created from that ongoing work. By combining a Permendur magnetic circuit and samarium-cobalt magnet with carefully chosen materials, the PP-2000 is engineered to realize auditory lateralization, spacious sound-field reproduction, fresh mid-to-high frequencies, and resonant bass.

The cartridge uses a stainless base and duralumin body, both treated with Diamond Like Carbon (DLC) processing. This structure is designed to offer excellent rigidity and vibration-damping characteristics, helping achieve sound quality “without fuzzy sounds,” as described by Phasemation.

A pure boron cantilever, line-contact diamond stylus, 6N oxygen-free copper coil wire, pure-iron coil bobbin, and wire damper are carried over from Phasemation’s high-quality models. These elements are tuned together as a low-impedance moving-coil system with a 4 Ω internal impedance and 0.3 mV output.
