Phasemation EA-2000 Tube Phono Amplifier

A six-box phonostage with monaural MC step-up transformers, LCR equalizers, and power supplies.

The Phasemation EA-2000 is a separate, six-unit tube LCR non-feedback phono amplifier system with completely independent left and right channels. Each channel uses a dedicated EA-2000T MC step-up transformer, EA-2000EQ equalizer, and EA-2000PS power supply. The chassis construction combines machined aluminum control knobs, a 20 mm-thick aluminum slant front panel, a 2 mm-thick copper-plated steel plate base, and a 2 mm-thick aluminum cover with magnetic shielding, with a walnut bottom board and TAOC high carbon insulator feet to enhance rigidity, reduce magnetic distortion, and suppress unwanted resonance.

At the core of the EA-2000 is a non-feedback LCR equalizer built around tube amplifiers. The SRPP-type amplifying circuit uses ECC-803S, noted for excellent transient response, followed by an ultra-low impedance cathode follower using 6922 (6DJ8 high-reliability tube). The equalizing circuit adopts an LCR topology with Phasemation’s own winding coils and high-quality film capacitors to reduce signal-system impedance, minimize power loss and inductive noise, and suppress sound-quality deterioration, while a powerful, channel-separated power supply with high S/N ratio and high resolution is based on the supply of the EA-1000.

For system integration, the EA-2000 provides MM and MC input forms, with the EA-2000T MC step-up transformers tuned specifically for this amplifier on the basis of the T-2000 design. Three equalizer curves—RIAA for stereo, Mono 1 for labels such as DECCA, and Mono 2 for labels such as Columbia—allow higher fidelity playback of both stereo and monaural records. WBT RCA terminals and rhodium-plated Furutech XLR terminals are used to pursue balanced sound quality, with a note that only one of the XLR or RCA inputs on the EA-2000T should be used at a time.

• Rigid chassis structure with 20 mm-thick aluminum slant front panel, 2 mm-thick copper-plated steel plate base, 2 mm-thick aluminum cover with magnetic shielding, walnut bottom board, and TAOC high carbon insulator feet for vibration control.
