Phasemation EA-1200 Tube Phono Amplifier

Three-chassis tube LCR MM/MC phonostage with independent left/right channels, switchable EQ curves, and internal MC step-up transformers

Created for listeners who believe analog still has room to grow, the Phasemation EA-1200 is a three-chassis tube LCR phono amplifier that separates the two mono amplifier channels from a dedicated power supply. A slanted 10 mm aluminum front panel, copper-plated steel chassis base, and aluminum covers with magnetic shielding are all chosen to increase rigidity, control vibration, and reduce magnetic interference. Heavy metal insulators on the feet further isolate the chassis, helping the EA-1200 convert tiny cartridge voltages into music with a sense of physical presence.

At its core, the EA-1200 is a non-feedback tube design using an SRPP amplifying stage with ECC-803S and a low-impedance cathode follower based on ECC-802S, feeding a true LCR equalization network. Large coils and high-quality film capacitors keep impedance low and minimize power loss in the signal path, preserving information right through to the output. An R-core transformer with generous capacity, two choke coils, and 5U4G directly heated rectifier tubes provide a quiet, stable supply, contributing to the EA-1200’s high S/N ratio, wide dynamic range, and richly textured but controlled tonal balance.

Three inputs can each be configured for MM or MC operation, with a BAL/UNBAL switch to optimize noise performance when using unbalanced MC connections. Equalization curves include standard RIAA for stereo and two mono curves (Mono 1 for labels such as Decca, Mono 2 for Columbia and similar), allowing more faithful playback of a wide range of pressings. As part of the wider Phasemation ecosystem, the EA-1200 can be partnered with accessories such as the PS-1200 additional power supply and CC-1200 series phono cables for fully matched analog front ends.
