The Peachtree Audio Nova brings an integrated amplifier, high-performance DAC, analog preamplifier, and headphone amplifier together in one compact component. Its generous selection of digital and analog inputs makes it particularly well suited to systems combining computer audio and streaming sources with traditional line-level components.

The power amplifier delivers 80 Wpc into 6 ohms using STMicroelectronics MOSFET amplifier modules. A variable preamp output allows the Nova to drive an external power amplifier or powered subwoofer, while a fixed line-level output can pass the selected source to another system or recording device.

ESS Sabre Digital Conversion

The digital section is built around an ESS 9006 Sabre DAC with 24-bit/96 kHz upsampling. Five digital inputs accommodate USB, coaxial, and optical sources. Each digital input is transformer-coupled, while the USB stage is galvanically isolated to help prevent computer and power-supply noise from entering the audio circuitry.

A switchable digital filter provides Sharp and Slow settings. Sharp offers the more conventional measured response, while Slow provides an alternative presentation that some listeners may prefer.

Switchable Tube Buffer

The hybrid preamplifier uses a 6922 tube and a class-A output stage. The tube can be switched out of the signal path from the remote control, allowing the listener to choose between tube-buffered and solid-state operation.

The third analog input can also function as a home-theater bypass. This allows a surround processor to control the level of the front left and right channels while the Nova powers the corresponding speakers.

Class-A Headphone Amplifier

The front-panel headphone output shares the Nova’s low-impedance class-A preamp output stage and includes the 6922 tube in its signal path. Connecting headphones automatically mutes the speaker outputs.
