The Monitor Audio Platinum 200 3G is a compact three-way floorstanding speaker designed to deliver a rich, dynamic high-end performance from a relatively modest cabinet footprint. Its rear-ported enclosure, cast outrigger, and crossover-mounted plinth assembly support tight, controlled bass and room-filling scale while keeping the design visually clean.

A new MPD III transducer handles high frequencies, joined by a 4" RDT III midrange driver and twin 6" RDT III bass drivers. Monitor Audio says this driver system refines the speaker’s overall balance, reduces distortion, and helps the Platinum 200 3G produce an exceptionally large soundstage.

The Platinum 200 3G is finished with etched inlays and is available in Piano Black, Piano Ebony, and Pure Satin White. It is designed for systems where full-range scale, fine detail, and controlled bass are required without moving to Monitor Audio’s larger floorstanding models.

Objects of Desire

The Platinum 200 3G is built to deliver bass extension and detail normally associated with larger floorstanding loudspeakers. Its slim cabinet makes it easier to place than a larger tower, while the three-way driver layout gives each part of the frequency range a dedicated operating range.

MPD III and RDT III Driver Technology

The high-frequency section uses Monitor Audio’s MPD III transducer, partnered with RDT III cones for the midrange and bass drivers. This combination is intended to improve balance, reduce distortion, and deliver a large, open soundstage with tight low-frequency control.
