McIntosh MPC1500 Power Controller

Toroidal isolation transformer with surge suppression and 12-component capacity

The McIntosh MPC1500 Power Controller is designed to provide clean, consistent AC power while protecting connected audio components from line noise and power surges. At its core is a large, quiet toroidal isolation transformer specially wound to act as a low-pass filter, reducing unwanted noise carried on the AC line.

A quick-acting surge suppression module activates when voltage reaches approximately 2 V above nominal operating levels. Excess voltage is released to the circuit's neutral wire rather than the ground wire, helping prevent unwanted energy from reaching connected components. The suppression module is non-sacrificial and does not require replacement following a surge event.

The MPC1500 is available with six Type B medical-grade duplex receptacles or six Type F single receptacles. Two receptacles remain continuously active, while the other four can be configured through rear-panel Power Control switches. Front- and rear-panel LED indicators show the operating status of each receptacle.

Two McIntosh blue meters provide real-time monitoring of incoming AC voltage and the current drawn by connected equipment. The MPC1500 also features the traditional McIntosh black glass front panel, illuminated logo, control knobs, and aluminum end caps.
