7.2-channel receiver with 120 Wpc into 8 ohms or 150 Wpc into 4 ohms, 8K HDMI, Dolby Atmos, and Dirac Live

The McIntosh MHT300 combines surround processing and seven channels of power amplification in a single chassis. All seven amplifier channels are rated simultaneously at 120 W into 8 ohms or 150 W into 4 ohms, allowing the receiver to deliver its specified output across a complete multichannel system rather than limiting the rating to two channels driven.

In its standard configuration, the MHT300 supports 7.2- or 5.2.2-channel systems. For larger theaters, its Height 1 and Height 2 line outputs can feed external power amplifiers, expanding the system to as many as 7.2.4 channels. Individual internal amplifier channels can also be bypassed so higher-powered external amplifiers can be substituted for selected speakers.

Dolby Atmos, DTS:X, and Dirac Live

The MHT300 supports Dolby Atmos and DTS:X, along with Dolby Surround and Neural:X upmixing. Seven 32-bit DACs handle digital-to-analog conversion for multichannel playback, while bass and treble controls provide additional tonal adjustment.

Dirac Live Room Correction is included for acoustic measurement and system optimization. Individual crossover frequencies can be assigned to each speaker, and a measurement microphone with a full-size metal stand is included for calibration.

8K HDMI Connectivity

Four HDMI inputs and one HDMI output support 8K/60 Hz and 4K/120 Hz video with 40 Gbps bandwidth. HDMI compatibility includes HDCP 2.3, Dolby Vision, HDR10+, HLG, Rec. 2020, 4:4:4 color, and 3D video passthrough.

The HDMI output supports eARC, allowing high-resolution formats including Dolby Atmos, Dolby TrueHD, DTS:X, and DTS-HD Master Audio to be returned from a compatible television over the HDMI connection. Two coaxial and two optical digital inputs accommodate additional audio sources, while two subwoofer outputs support dual-subwoofer systems.

McIntosh Power and Custom Integration

Power Guard monitors the output signal to help prevent amplifier clipping, while Sentry Monitor provides short-circuit protection and automatically restores operation when conditions return to normal. Five-way speaker binding posts provide secure connections for all seven amplified channels.

The MHT300 includes Ethernet-based setup, RS232 control, Power Control outputs, a Data Port, and a rear-panel IR input. It is certified for Control4 and Crestron Home integration, and its included rack-mounting brackets allow installation in a standard 3U equipment space. A built-in FM tuner provides over-the-air radio reception.
