Quad Balanced DAC with fixed and variable analog outputs

The McIntosh MCD600 combines a high-performance SACD/CD player with a premium digital-to-analog converter, giving both disc collections and external digital sources access to its sophisticated digital and analog circuitry.

At its core is a premium 8-channel, 32-bit PCM/DSD DAC operating in Quad Balanced mode, with four DAC channels dedicated to each of the left and right audio channels. All PCM signals are upsampled to 32-bit/384 kHz.

Fixed and Variable Analog Outputs

The MCD600 provides both fixed and variable balanced and unbalanced analog outputs. The variable outputs and built-in volume control allow the MCD600 to be connected directly to a power amplifier without requiring a separate preamplifier.

A High Drive headphone amplifier provides increased gain and output power and is designed to accommodate a wide range of headphone types.

Digital Inputs and Outputs

Coaxial and optical digital inputs allow other digital sources to use the MCD600's internal DAC. A front-panel USB Type A input provides convenient playback from USB flash drives.

Coaxial and optical digital outputs are also provided for sending the digital audio signal to an external digital processor or DAC.

SACD, CD, and Data Disc Playback

In addition to commercial SACDs and CDs, the MCD600 can play user-created CDs and DVD data discs as well as USB flash drives containing formats including AAC, AIFF, ALAC, DSD up to DSD128, FLAC, MP3, WAV, and WMA.

A twin-laser optical pickup is optimized for the different disc types, while the precision die-cast aluminum disc tray and advanced digital servo provide smooth, quiet operation. Disc data is read at twice normal speed to improve tracking and error-correction processing.

Classic McIntosh Design

The MCD600 features a polished stainless steel chassis, black glass front panel, illuminated McIntosh logo, knobs, and aluminum end caps. Direct LED backlighting provides even illumination across the front panel.

A glass panel on top of the MCD600 displays performance specifications and a block diagram of the audio signal path.
