McIntosh MC152 2-Channel Power Amplifier
150 Wpc stereo power amplifier with Autoformers, Power Guard, and a slim 6" chassis
The McIntosh MC152 is a solid-state stereo power amplifier delivering 150 Wpc into 2-, 4-, or 8-ohm loudspeaker loads. McIntosh Autoformer technology makes the amplifier’s full rated output available at each of those impedances, giving the MC152 the flexibility to work with a wide range of loudspeakers without sacrificing rated power.
At just 6" tall, the MC152 is one of McIntosh’s more compact traditional power amplifiers and is well suited to systems where the company’s larger chassis are unnecessary or difficult to accommodate. It can serve as the main amplifier in a two-channel system or power surround channels in a home theater installation.
The output stage uses a push-pull complementary solid-state circuit, with Power Guard continuously comparing the input and output waveforms to prevent clipping. Sentry Monitor provides fuse-less short-circuit protection and automatically restores operation when conditions return to normal.
Balanced and unbalanced inputs allow easy connection to a wide variety of preamplifiers. Dedicated speaker terminals are provided for 2-, 4-, and 8-ohm loads, while a pair of blue watt meters displays real-time output behind the familiar McIntosh black glass front panel.
Features
150 Wpc Into 2, 4, or 8 Ohms
McIntosh Autoformers allow each channel to deliver its full rated 150 W into 2-, 4-, or 8-ohm loudspeaker loads rather than limiting maximum output to a single nominal impedance.
Slim Chassis
At 6" high, the MC152 occupies less vertical space than McIntosh’s larger stereo amplifiers, making it easier to accommodate in more compact equipment racks and systems.
Power Guard
Power Guard continuously compares the amplifier’s input and output signals and dynamically adjusts the input level when necessary to prevent clipping and the harsh distortion it can produce.
Sentry Monitor
Sentry Monitor provides fuse-less short-circuit protection for the output stage, disengaging it before current exceeds safe operating limits and automatically restoring operation when conditions return to normal.
Autoformer Output
McIntosh Autoformer technology couples the amplifier to dedicated 2-, 4-, and 8-ohm speaker outputs, allowing full rated power to be delivered across all three supported load impedances.
Blue Watt Meters
Dual front-panel watt meters provide fast visual indication of amplifier output and retain one of McIntosh’s most recognizable design elements.
Power Control
McIntosh Power Control allows compatible components to receive coordinated power-on and power-off commands as part of a complete McIntosh system.
