The LUMIN U2X is a transport-only network component designed to deliver the cleanest possible digital signal to your external DAC. Both the main unit and its dedicated power supply are hewn from solid billet aluminum, a construction method borrowed from LUMIN’s X1 to ensure rigidity and shielding. The external dual-toroidal linear PSU uses separate digital and analog circuits with low-noise regulation, minimizing interference right at the source.

Lumin is THE brand for hi-fi enthusiasts who don't need touchscreens, knobs, and a host of extra features. With its background in broadcast engineering, Lumin epitomizes providing the lowest noise and most stable, high-bandwidth circuits. On a Lumin, everything extraneous can be turned off: unused digital outputs, unused processing streams such as Roon and Lumin streaming, the display, and even the RJ45 LEDs. The result of this tight focus is a light, lithe, airy sound with a huge, natural soundstage, and no artificial warmth or bloom.

Sure, the Lumin app takes a little getting used to, but once you're comfortable, it's fast, stable and most of all, sounds the best. With the U2X, you can further drop noise by using the SFP port for optical Ethernet, and can connect a 10 MHz clock to drop jitter even further, something that's audible as greater musical flow.

Signal architecture is new from the ground up. A dedicated isolated USB audio output handles native DSD512 and PCM up to 768 kHz, while AES/EBU, BNC, coaxial RCA, and optical outputs support PCM up to 192 kHz and DSD via DoP. The U2X is also the first LUMIN to offer both a 10 MHz clock input and dual 10 MHz clock outputs, making it possible to synchronize with external master clocks or run multiple devices on a shared reference to reduce jitter and timing error.

Connectivity is equally advanced. In addition to RJ45 Gigabit Ethernet, the U2X provides an industry-standard SFP fibre port, allowing electrically isolated networking. Its dual-network design with built-in switch lets you feed a NAS or LUMIN L1 directly while maintaining your router connection. The latest LUMIN processing platform supports up/down-sampling to DSD256 or 384 kHz PCM, and integrates Leedh Processing for lossless digital volume control if needed.

Streaming services and control are extensive, including Roon Ready, Qobuz Connect, TIDAL Connect, Spotify Connect, AirPlay-compatible playback, Plex, Audirvāna certification, and more. Frequent firmware updates have added high-resolution TIDAL Max FLAC, expanded free FLAC radio stations, and new app integrations—all delivered at no extra cost.
