Add streaming services to a compatible HiFi Rose system over USB-C, or stream independently through RCA and optical outputs

The HiFi Rose RW800 ROSE AIR Lite brings network streaming to an existing audio system without replacing its core components. It works in two ways: as a USB-connected expansion module for a compatible HiFi Rose streamer, or as a standalone source connected to an amplifier, receiver, active speakers, or external DAC.

TIDAL Connect, Qobuz Connect, Spotify Connect, AirPlay 2, Google Cast, and Roon Ready support give you several ways to select and play music. Ethernet, dual-band Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth 5.2 provide wired and wireless connection options, while the ROSE AIR app handles setup and device settings.

Two Ways to Connect

In Expansion Mode, the RW800 connects to a compatible HiFi Rose streamer through USB-C, adding streaming functions with USB-based lossless audio transmission. This mode requires a supported HiFi Rose host; it is not a general-purpose USB upgrade for any streamer.

In Standalone Mode, the RW800’s internal DAC supplies an unbalanced stereo RCA output for an amplifier or active speakers. Alternatively, its optical output feeds an external DAC or a component with an optical digital input. This lets you choose whether to use the RW800’s analog conversion or the DAC already in your system.

Streaming and App Control

With TIDAL Connect, Qobuz Connect, and Spotify Connect, you select music in the service’s app and direct playback to the RW800. AirPlay 2 and Google Cast offer additional playback options, including multiroom use within their respective systems. Roon Ready support allows the RW800 to serve as a network audio endpoint in a Roon system.

The RW800 supports PCM playback up to 32-bit/384 kHz and DSD128. These are the device’s playback limits, not a promise of that resolution through every service or connection. The ROSE AIR app is available for iOS and Android and provides network setup, input/output selection, analog output-level adjustment, and device settings.

Optical Input and USB-C Power

The optical port can be configured as an input or an output in the ROSE AIR app. As an input, it accepts linear PCM audio from a television or another digital source. Set the source to PCM rather than Dolby Digital, DTS, or another encoded surround format.

For standalone operation, supply USB-C power from a suitable USB source or a 5 V DC adapter rated at 1.5 A or higher. A Bluetooth remote control is available separately.
