Hana E Series MK II Moving-Coil Phono Cartridge
Improved resonance control with wider tonearm and phonostage compatibility
The Hana E Series MK II brings technology developed for Hana’s more advanced cartridges to one of the company’s most accessible ranges. Designed by Masao Okada and handmade in Japan by Excel Sound, the new generation is available in low-output EL MK II and high-output EH MK II versions.
The E Series MK II adopts the body shape of Hana’s M Series, along with an elastomeric coating derived from the S Series MK II. This coating helps reduce mechanical resonance, allowing greater clarity and low-level detail to emerge.
Brass Cap With Threaded Mounting Holes
A precision-machined brass cap adds mass to the cartridge, improving compatibility with a wider range of tonearms while contributing to deeper bass and stronger dynamics. Threaded mounting holes simplify installation by eliminating the need for separate nuts.
Cryogenically Treated Components
Key components in the magnetic circuit—including the yoke, pole pieces, and gold-plated terminal pins—undergo cryogenic treatment. According to Hana, this process improves material stability, reduces magnetic distortion, and optimizes signal transfer.
EL MK II and EH MK II Versions
The low-output EL MK II uses the same Alnico generator and 8-ohm coil found in the Hana Umami Blue, ML, and SL MK II. It is designed to deliver high-level performance while working well with moving-coil phonostages that have a fixed 100-ohm input impedance.
The high-output EH MK II is optimized for use with standard moving-magnet phonostage inputs, extending the E Series MK II’s performance improvements to systems without a dedicated low-output moving-coil input.
