Grado Hemp Open-Air Headphones
44 mm X2 drivers, bi-wood hemp and maple housings, a Signature Silver headband assembly, and F cushions
The Grado Hemp combines the company’s latest X2 driver platform with distinctive bi-wood housings made from hempwood and maple. Part of Grado’s Classic Series, the Hemp is tuned for a fuller, more grounded presentation while retaining the immediacy of an open-air design.
Its 44 mm X2 dynamic driver uses a Mylar diaphragm, copper voice coil, and rare-earth magnet system. F cushions place the drivers close to the ears, contributing to the Hemp’s direct and engaging presentation.
Bi-Wood Hemp and Maple Housings
The Hemp’s housings combine hempwood with maple, using the different properties of the two materials to support the driver. According to Grado, hempwood provides natural damping and helps give the headphone its tonal warmth, while maple adds structural stability at the driver interface.
Hemp is also a rapidly renewable crop, giving the material an environmental advantage over many traditional hardwoods.
Signature Silver Headband Assembly
The Hemp uses Grado’s Signature Silver headband assembly, which shares its engineering foundation with the company’s Signature Gold system. A padded leather headstrap with contrasting white stitching improves comfort, while the internal steel spring band lets you adjust the clamping pressure.
Signature Silver Cable and F Cushions
An eight-conductor Signature Silver cable is fitted as standard. The standard version is terminated with a 3.5 mm plug and includes a removable 1/4" adapter, while an XLR-terminated version is also available.
The Hemp is supplied with Grado F cushions. Because Grado’s cushions also act as acoustic tuning elements, they can be changed to alter the fit, tonal balance, and presentation.
