Fyne Audio F500S Bookshelf Loudspeaker (pair)

With a 6" bass-mid driver, 25 mm magnesium dome tweeter, down-firing bass port, and 89 dB sensitivity

The F500S bookshelf speaker is part of Fyne Audio’s enhanced F500S Series, featuring the next evolution of IsoFlare point source driver technology for superior clarity and dispersion.

Its neodymium HF magnet, vented rear chamber, and magnesium HF diaphragm ensure reduced resonance and extended high-frequency performance beyond 30 kHz. The 6″ multi-fibre LF cone with FyneFlute™ roll surround delivers precise transient response and natural sound. The integrated patented BassTrax™ Tractrix Diffuser System guarantees an even 360 degree bass distribution, minimising room placement sensitivity.

For personal adjustment of the soundstage, the F500S comes with a rear-facing presence switch. Encased in high-rigidity MDF, the F500S is finished in luxury Black Oak or Natural Walnut real wood veneer or a sumptuous Piano Gloss Black, perfect for any decor. The F500S is ideal for audiophiles and movie enthusiasts alike seeking a natural immersive soundstage where real estate is at a premium.

Here’s more on the core Fyne Audio technologies that are used in the F500 Series.

IsoFlare

Fyne Audio’s IsoFlare™ technology is a true point source design: low, mid, and high frequencies all emanate from the same physical point, thanks to the coaxial arrangement of the mid/bass cone and magnesium dome tweeter. This architecture ensures perfect time and phase alignment across the frequency spectrum. The result is:

  • Unmatched clarity and holographic imaging
  • Accurate reproduction of instruments’ natural tonal character
  • An immersive experience that draws you into the music
  • Whether you're sitting dead-center or off to the side, the IsoFlare™ driver ensures sound remains balanced and true—preserving the relationship between fundamentals and harmonics no matter where you are in the room.

FyneFlute

The flexible surround of a driver cone allows the cone to move back and forth to create sound. This material is not perfect and can reflect energy back onto the cone, or resonate at certain frequencies, a class of distortions called mis-termination effects. Fyne Audio discovered that a variable geometry using special computer designed fluting on the surround, effectively terminates cone energy and eliminates the mis-termination effects and reduces coloration, providing greater musical accuracy.

BassTrax

The patent pending BassTrax Tractrix profile LF diffuser system is a complex yet refined approach to bass loading and reflex porting. It incorporates a twin cavity cabinet design with a tuned waveguide port firing downwards from the reinforced lower panel of the cabinet. This loading technique broadens the tuning frequency to reduce cone excursion and acts as a damping system that blocks potential standing wave resonances produced by the main internal port between cavities.

The lower cavity bass port vents downwards onto the BassTrax Tractrix profile diffuser. The unique, mathematically derived tractrix profile maintains a true 90-degree angle at each intersection of the expanding wavefront, so converts plain wave LF energy into a horizontally expanding spherical 360-degree wavefront with no loss of total energy. The result is seamlessly uniform LF integration into the room and a loudspeaker that is far less critical of room positioning.

High-Quality Crossover

The F500S Series features expertly engineered crossovers designed to deliver exceptional sound clarity and detail. Each model incorporates high-quality components, including low-loss laminated core inductors and premium polypropylene film capacitors, to ensure minimal signal degradation.

These crossovers are meticulously crafted and computer-optimized, with final adjustments made by ear to achieve a perfectly balanced frequency response. This precise tuning ensures seamless integration between the bass, midrange, and treble drivers, resulting in a natural, immersive soundstage. All but the LCR models also offer bi-wire terminals, allowing for improved signal separation and enhanced audio fidelity, catering to discerning audiophiles.
