Ferrum BROEN Network Streaming Transport
A compact network transport with Volumio streaming, SERCE DDC architecture, galvanically isolated digital outputs, and Ferrum system integration
The Ferrum BROEN is a network streaming transport built to keep the digital signal clean from the first network connection to the final digital output. Ferrum starts with the same kind of ground-up thinking that shaped HYPSOS, focusing on the integrity of the zeros and ones before they ever reach your DAC.
At the center of BROEN is Ferrum’s SERCE digital-to-digital convertor heart, designed to keep the input and output domains separated while providing FPGA-based reclocking and galvanically isolated audio outputs. It supports a wide range of digital outputs, including AES/EBU, coaxial S/PDIF, optical S/PDIF, I2S over HDMI, and dedicated USB DAC outputs on Type-A and Type-C.
BROEN is Powered by Volumio, giving it access to a broad streaming ecosystem with Spotify Connect, TIDAL Connect, Qobuz Connect, AirPlay, UPnP/DLNA, web radio, CD playback and ripping, multi-room playback, and playback from USB storage, NAS, or an internal user-supplied M.2 NVMe SSD.
Network connectivity is equally flexible. BROEN includes dual-band Wi-Fi as standard, with optional RJ45 Ethernet or optical network connection through its SFP socket. For systems where noise control matters, the SFP option allows BROEN to connect to a compatible optical network setup and reduce the noise that can arrive from the outside world.
BROEN is also designed as part of the Ferrum ecosystem. With Ferrum Streaming Control Technology, it can integrate with WANDLA so artist and title information appear on WANDLA’s screen, with control available from WANDLA’s touchscreen or remote. BROEN can also be upgraded with HYPSOS using Ferrum Power Link for a higher-performance power-supply path.
