The Eversolo DMP-A8 Gen 2 brings substantial hardware and connectivity updates to Eversolo's full-size streaming DAC and preamp. Its redesigned aluminum-alloy chassis now carries an 8.6" LCD touchscreen with a new user interface, larger album artwork, VU meters, real-time spectrum displays, and more direct access to playback and system controls.

Faster Processing for Large Music Libraries

A new 64-bit octa-core processor works with 8 GB of DDR5 memory and 64 GB of internal eMMC storage. The additional processing power makes browsing, indexing, searching, and managing large local music libraries faster and more responsive. Eversolo states that the system can analyze and organize a library of up to 200,000 tracks in approximately 2 hours.

Music can be played from an internally installed SSD, USB storage, a NAS drive, or integrated streaming services. Native services include TIDAL, Qobuz, Amazon Music, Apple Music, Deezer, HIGHRESAUDIO, Presto Music, Radio Paradise, and others. TIDAL Connect, Qobuz Connect, Spotify Connect Lossless, DLNA, and Bluetooth reception provide additional ways to send music to the DMP-A8 Gen 2.

Flagship AKM Conversion

The DAC architecture retains the combination of an AK4191EQ digital processor and AK4499EX DAC, separating digital processing from digital-to-analog conversion. The DMP-A8 Gen 2 supports native DSD512 and PCM up to 768 kHz/32-bit through compatible inputs.

Eversolo's AuralEngine proprietary USB audio processor manages high-resolution USB audio transmission and scheduling. Dual ultra-low-phase-noise clocks provide separate timing references for audio signals based on multiples of 44.1 and 48 kHz.

Fully Balanced Analog Preamp

The fully balanced analog preamp provides up to 10 dB of analog gain and uses a precision R-2R resistor-ladder volume control rather than conventional digital attenuation. Balanced XLR and single-ended RCA analog inputs allow an additional analog source to be connected, while XLR and RCA preamp outputs can drive a power amplifier or active loudspeakers directly.

A discrete dual-power-supply architecture separates the digital and analog sections. The analog audio circuitry is supplied by a dedicated linear power supply to reduce the transfer of switching noise into sensitive signal circuits.

Room Correction and System Integration

The upgraded evotune Pro room-correction system provides automated acoustic correction when used with a compatible measurement microphone. Custom target curves, FIR correction filters, and user-defined tuning profiles allow the response to be adapted to the listening room. Manual DSP functions include parametric EQ, high-pass and low-pass filters, loudness compensation, compression, channel delay, and imported FIR filters.

A dedicated subwoofer output makes it easier to integrate a powered subwoofer without an external crossover or processor. Its adjustable low-pass crossover covers 40 to 500 Hz.

HDMI ARC/eARC accepts lossless stereo audio from a television or projector. Digital inputs also include USB-B, coaxial, and optical, while USB Audio, AES/EBU, coaxial, optical, and HDMI I2S outputs allow the DMP-A8 Gen 2 to be used as a digital transport with an external DAC.

Expanded Network and Storage Options

Network connections include Gigabit Ethernet, dual-band Wi-Fi 6, and an SFP fiber-network port. A compatible SFP module can provide an optically isolated network connection between the DMP-A8 Gen 2 and supporting network hardware. The SFP module is sold separately.

A single internal M.2 NVMe PCIe 3.0 2280 slot supports an SSD with a capacity of up to 8 TB. Two USB 3.0 ports accommodate external storage and compatible accessories.
