The Cardas 4181US is a US duplex wall outlet with beryllium-copper contacts plated with rhodium over silver. It combines these contact materials with additional tensioning springs to address a practical concern in audio systems: keeping heavy power cables securely connected at the wall.

Cardas designed the springs to maintain a tight grip on plug blades through repeated insertion and removal. Standard screw-clamp terminals provide the wiring connections.

Flexible Circuit and Grounding Configurations

The upper and lower receptacles can operate together as a conventional duplex outlet or be electrically separated to accommodate two dedicated lines. Removable jumpers provide this flexibility, while independent ground connections allow grounding to the mounting bracket or an isolated-ground configuration. Installation and configuration should be handled by a qualified electrician in accordance with local electrical codes; isolated grounding does not mean operating without a safety ground.
