Don't Be Scared of Home Cinema
Our new brands make it easy to make good choices
We welcome Onkyo and Integra to Upscale's home cinema line-up.
Once you become an audiophile (or, if you're in denial, a "hi-fi enthusiast"), you are forever cursed. Say you're in the market for a budget home cinema system. Even though your first love is stereo, and most of your disposable income goes into the main rig, as an audiophile, it's impossible to simply go online and buy a "home theater kit" where you get everything you need—five or more speakers, sub, receiver, for under $499.95.
Nope, even afterthought systems need a lot of thought because we know how even a little bit of attention can bring great sonic returns. Fortunately, our two new lines, Onkyo and Integra, take all of the fear and audio nervosa out of this decision. First, Onkyo.
Klipsch Optimize Mode
Our Onkyo receivers all come with a Klipsch Optimize Mode to be a perfect match for Klipsch Reference and Reference Premiere speakers. These are speakers with sensitivities in the high 90s, so you get a dynamic, powerful sound with a ton of headroom on the receiver's amps.
Klipsch and Onkyo have teamed up to have the precise values for the speakers all available under the 'crossover' setting. Simply select the model of speakers you’ll be using for each individual channel.
As you have heard in your two-channel rig, when settings or placement are perfectly optimized, things just snap into place, greatly increasing your sense of immersion. This is extra critical when you have five or more speakers, so take full advantage of this Klipsch-Onkyo collaboration.
Onkyo TX-NR7100 9.2 Channel $1,299.00 |
Onkyo TX-RZ50 9.2 Channel $1,599.00 |
Onkyo TX-RZ70 11.2 Channel $2,799.00 |
Onkyo and Klipsch have teamed up to be perfect matches for each other.
Still Chasing the Hi?
If you're still after more 'hi' in hi-fi, even for your multichannel rig, Integra offers all of the cool cinema and integration technology you could ever want, in familiar hi-fi design: huge transformers and extensive heat-sinking. Even the HDMI board has a heatsink!
Integra has been synonymous with high fidelity since 1969, so if you're in the market for a 7.2-, 9.2-, or 11.4-channel budget system, consider stepping up a little bit to Integra for even better sound.
Integra DRX-2.4 7.2 Channel $950.00 |
Integra DRX-3.4 9.2 Channel $1500.00 |
Integra DRX-5.4 9.2 Channel $2200.00 |
Integra DRX-8.4 11.4 Channel $3200.00 |
Exciting Bluesound News
One of the great advantages of modern digital audio is over-the-air updates. It's pretty exciting to have a digital source that gets extra features and even better sound as time goes by, at no extra cost.
Bluesound has just released BluOS 4.0, a new version of what remains one of our favorite manufacturer apps. Bluesound has heard you, and taken customer feedback to create a new home screen and add a convenient bottom navigation bar. There are also improvements to navigation experience, speed, and quality of search results, among others.
If you haven't done so already, update the BluOS controller app first on your tablet or phone, and then accept the player update.
We have some exciting news coming for Bluesound NODE owners involving a new product by one of our favorite manufacturers. Look for the big announcement next week!
