Pathos AmpliD Stereo Power Amplifier
Completely balanced class-D with 70 Wpc. Hand-made in Vicenza, Italy
The AmpliD is the first class-D amplifier from Pathos. It is completely balanced, and offers 70 watts of output power per channel at 8 ohm, and 130 watts at 4 ohms. It has a stereo balanced XLR input and and a stereo unbalanced RCA line input.
The Upscale View
Pathos Acoustics is one of high-end audio's most interesting brands. Its products are hand-made in Vicenza, Italy, to an extremely high standard of both sonic engineering and physical build. Pathos uses its own incredible patented technology in higher end amps called InPol, and has a deep understanding of pushing circuit design to get the very best performance.
The Pathos sound is both delicate and powerful. The amps are able to preserve and image the finest detail while also delivering huge weight in the midrange and powerful, fast bass. Does the idea of class-D put you off? This is not traditional class-D. Huge improvements have been made in switching technologies both for power supplies and output stages. Read more here. The Little Italian that Hits like a Heavyweight
Pathos took everything people love about their art-first engineering and built a modern compact power amp that refuses to sound “compact.” AmpliD is the brand’s first fully balanced Class-D design. It is hand-made in Vicenza, enclosed in a solid aluminum chassis, and voiced to deliver scale, drive, and clarity far beyond its footprint.
Why AmpliD?
- Real power, real control – 70 Wpc into 8Ω (130 Wpc into 4Ω) with the speed and grip you buy Class-D for, plus Pathos tone and texture
- Fully balanced architecture – Lower noise, higher dynamic contrast; accept XLR or RCA and keep the signal path pristine
- Italian craftsmanship – Milled aluminum body with the Pathos logo carved on top; designed and built entirely in Italy.
- Small form, big system thinking – Stack it with Converto MK2 (DAC) and In The Groove (phono) for a compact, high-end tower that does digital and vinyl beautifully.
The Sound
AmpliD plays with immediacy—fast leading edges, deep bass authority, and a wide, well-lit soundstage—yet it preserves harmonic ease and image density so music never turns sterile. It’s the rare “desktop-to-full-system” power amp that thrives with efficient bookshelves, modern stand-mounts, and even many floorstanders. Put it in a clean chain and it disappears, leaving scale and space you don’t expect at this size.
Design & Build
- All-aluminum chassis for rigidity and resonance control, with minimal cosmetics and maximal function
- Balanced Class-D topology executed the Pathos way: short signal paths, careful part selection, and a voicing aimed at musical engagement, not just numbers
- Made in Italy—not just designed: assembled by hand in Vicenza
System Matching
Use the balanced XLR input from a quality preamp or DAC-pre to unlock its lowest noise floor; the RCA input makes drop-in upgrades simple. Pair with neutral to slightly warm speakers for a highly resolving, fatigue-free setup; with efficient horns or concentric designs, expect explosive dynamics and holographic imaging.
