The Sonus faber Aida is part of its Reference Collection. which is one of 12 collections, running the gamut all the way outdoor speakers.
Franco Serblin was tired of the hunt, so he built a speaker he was happy to live with.
"It just melts me," said Ken Davis, our sales manager, one recent morning as he listened to our new Sonus faber Amati G5 and McIntosh demo system. "It is totally void of anything harsh, brash, fatiguing."
This is not a sound for people who want eye-blink dynamics or crystalline inner detail. But nor is it artificially warm and gooey. It's more of a high-grit sandpapering, smoothing it enough to make it easy to live with, but not so much that you lose the detail and accuracy of true high fidelity. The sophistication carries over into the design as well, with rich wood finishes, leather, and up to nine layers of fine lacquer.
All of Sonus faber's models are manufactured and assembled near Vicenza in Italy. If that sounds familiar, it's because it's also the home of Pathos Acoustics, another company that famously keeps its sourcing and production fastidiously local.

Sonus faber's signature, elegant lute-shaped cabinet is designed to reduce internal resonances.
Speakers You Want to Live With
Sonus faber's smooth sound comes from its founder's desire to make a speaker people would want to live with for years. After changing speakers multiple times in a short period, Franco Serblin decided make his own, using premium materials and heritage craftsmanship. The company's very first speaker, the Parva, used solid walnut and fine leather in a beautifully radiused cabinet. That was 1983, and today, Sonus faber has 12 model collections, ranging from Reference through wireless, in-wall, and outdoor. Right now, we stock hi-fi speakers ranging from $5,000 to $78,000 a pair, with even the foundational Sonetto III G2 available in stunning wood finishes with Sonus faber's signature lute-shaped cabinet.
For at least two generations of hi-fi enthusiasts, Sonus faber (Latin for "artisan of sound") has been the "this is the sound and look I've been searching for" speaker brand, and it just might be yours too. Reach out to set up a demo or to talk to one of our fellow hi-fi nerds who happen to also sell audio!
