A Symphony of Mid-Century Charm

Tannoy and REL Classic

The rich wood grain of REL Classic subwoofers beautifully match Tannoy's classic oiled finishes. The Tannoy GRF offers slightly more contemporary lines than the Turnberry shown here.

The Tannoy GRF is 50% off and we have an amazing idea for just a fraction of those $15,000 savings.

In this time of financial turbulence, Upscale has a safety rock for you: a saving of 50% on the Tannoy GRF, totalling $15,000 less for the pair. What do you do with these riches? Here is one of audio's all-time-great pairing suggestions, using only a fraction of that money. Spend $3,798 on a pair of the REL Classic 99 subwoofers and acquire a complete transducer set that is a "symphony of mid-century charm" backed by the snap and immersion of new-century technology.

This is a wood-grained vista you can leave in place for life, and spend the rest of your years fine-tuning the perfect front end for a setup that will only get better over the years. There's a reason vintage Tannoy is so in demand, and a reason that we consider REL subs an essential component of a high-fidelity system.

Tannoy GRF

Described as the 'Kensington on steroids', the GRF has a 12" Dual Concentric driver with PepperPot WaveGuide.

A Foot-Long Driver

The Tannoy GRF brings you a 12" Dual Concentric driver, a PepperPot Wave Guide, cryo-treated high-end crossover, and a high-power alnico magnet system. Large woofers may not have the speed of audiophile-voiced speakers with multiple 8" or smaller drivers, but fans of 10", 12", and more" drivers are addicted to the weight and immersion that comes from moving large amounts of air.

Every speaker benefits from good low-end support, and the REL Classic 99 brings another 12" driver, powered by a 450 W class-D amplifier. Class-D technology is now adept at all frequencies, but as you know, it's traditionally amazing with bass. The class-D circuit's ability to track the fastest, biggest transients gives you proper room-pressurizing kick drums and wood-grained double basses, as well as the midrange richness and sense of space that comes with accurate bass extension. (The REL Classic 98 might be a better fit for a small room. Talk to one of our ever-helpful salespeople on the phone, web chat, or email about this.)

Every Tannoy we sell has had a complete in-house quality check, and any blemished pairs we find are sold at an even bigger discount. We will not be restocking Tannoy, so this is your last chance to get the world's favorite heritage speaker at such amazing prices. As Kevin Deal, Upscale's founder, says, "You can call any speaker a classic all you want. It ain't classic, it ain't vintage, when there's no history. With Tannoy you are buying audio history as well as performance."
