MoFi SourcePoint V10 Master Edition Floorstanding Loudspeaker (pair)
Renowned designer Andrew Jones brings his art and science to this 91 dB three-way floorstander with 1.25" soft-dome tweeter, 10" mid, 2 x 10" woofer, and 2 x 10" passive radiators
A pair of the MoFi SourcePoint V10 Master Edition brings you an amazing ten 10" drivers that work in harmony to deliver the V10’s signature blend of scale, speed, and precision. Each speaker houses a concentric midrange/tweeter, twin woofers, and rear‑firing dual passive radiators, ensuring each part of the spectrum is handled by a dedicated element. The result is an expansive, room‑filling soundstage with earth‑shaking bass, lifelike midrange detail, and sparkling highs all presented with seamless integration and commanding authority.
As MoFi Electronics puts it, "Hear music portrayed with intoxicating clarity, tonal balance, cohesiveness, and naturalism."
Who Is Andrew Jones?
Rockstar audio engineer Andrew Jones is well known from his days at KEF, Infinity, TAD, Pioneer, and ELAC. Now he's with MoFi Electronics and has been working out of a studio in LA, developing the SourcePoint series. The brief was to create a mid-century modern design with a nod to the big-woofer studio systems of the seventies. Deep, tight bass was to be central to the sound. The SourcePoints are unusual in that they use a concentric point-source design. As Andrew says, "There is clearly a simplicity in a two-way. I've put a lot of work into optimizing the drive motor [resulting in a manageable and predictable excursion], and this plays a large part in the resultant performance." With the V10, that philosophy extends into a floorstanding configuration with additional bass capability.
The Master Edition
One of the key improvements of the SourcePoint V10 Master Edition over the acclaimed 888 is a three-way user-selectable enhanced crossover that improves the integration between the driver and tweeter units. This results in breathtaking tonal balance, imaging, cohesiveness, and naturalism. You can tailor the treble response to your preferences, allowing for smoother, more extended high-frequency performance. The high-grade build of the crossover, comprised of audiophile-caliber components and two separate circuit boards, further reduces distortion and improves clarity across the entire frequency spectrum. Jones spent well over two years developing the Master Edition. It is built to satisfy all types of listeners and to play every kind of music, whether you prefer relaxing or aggressive fare, acoustic or electric material, or listen to a broad scope of eras and artists.
Driver and Cabinet Design
The SourcePoint V10 is configured around a custom-tooled 10" concentric driver and a 1.25" soft-dome tweeter centered within the woofer cone. As part of this point-source system, the cone acts as a waveguide for the tweeter to both match directivities and maximize efficiency. The 10" paper-cone driver, with its corrugated surround, offers improved linear excursion and minimizes diffraction effects on the tweeter's wave expansion. This is supported by two 10" woofers and two 10" passive radiators to produce an extremely linear, low-distortion drive force without introducing port noise.
Exterior Performance
The sculpted 2"-thick front baffle is a defining element of the SourcePoint design. With 1"-thick real-wood veneer panels on the other sides and extensive internal bracing, you get extremely low distortion, consistent linearity, and high bass output. The swept-back front baffle facets reduce diffraction errors, and the cabinet is tuned to combine the detail and precision of a standmount with the bass extension and scale of a true floorstander. Andrew Jones enjoys the benefits of working without fixed deadlines or restrictive budgets, and with the SourcePoint V10 Master Edition, he continues MoFi Electronics' mission to create first-rate components that honor Mobile Fidelity's studio heritage and preserve signal purity, faithfulness, and precision. The V10 Master Edition is rated at 91 dB sensitivity and works with a wide range of amplification. It can be dialed in with ease for maximum performance in any environment. Complete with removable grilles, the SourcePoint V10 Master Edition is available in a choice of finishes.
